Agent Skills and Open Responses now have a neutral home. Write your agent's know-how once.

The Agentic AI Foundation took in Anthropic's Agent Skills and OpenAI's Open Responses on October 22, so the know-how you write for one agent now has a neutral home. The Agentic AI Foundation's October 22 announcement says skills package instructions, scripts and resources in a reusable manner that agents can load on demand. Open Responses is a shared way to describe a model request and its output once. Then it runs across model providers with little translation. The foundation now hosts 10 projects, up from three in December 2025. The Model Context Protocol (MCP), the plug agents use to reach tools, was one of those three.

Here's what I'd do this week. Pick the job your team explains to every new agent: how you qualify a lead, or how you write a renewal note. Put it in one skill folder, in plain Markdown. Keep your model calls behind one request shape, so a provider swap is a config change. Then the know-how stays yours, and the agent becomes the part you can replace.

Standards don't make an agent good. They make it cheaper to leave a bad one.
