FAQ

What’s happening with the Civic app? 

As we expand our identity offerings in 2023, we are also sharpening our business focus in order to support their success. As such, we will be ending support for the Civic app and removing it from app stores on June 1, 2023. 

 

What actions do I need to take?

If you have funds in your wallet, Civic will notify you directly. 

Please log into your Civic app and withdraw all funds immediately to a compatible wallet. 

If you no longer have the app installed and need to transfer funds, download the Civic app again and follow the prompts on screen to start account recovery.

 

How do I withdraw my funds?

Click into the Accounts tab, on each account with funds, click Send and enter/paste your destination address. Ensure that the address is correct as all crypto transactions are final. Sending crypto to the wrong address could mean losing your funds. When in doubt, send a small amount first.

If you are reinstalling the app, the Accounts tab will not be available. Once you have completed account recovery, a member of our team will contact you directly to initiate fund recovery if your account has any available balance. 

 

Do I have to pay transaction fees to withdraw my funds?

All CVC, ETH and USDC transactions are free. BTC transaction fees will be deducted from your balance. You may reference this chart of BTC historical fees for estimated costs.

 

I did not receive a notification of funds from Civic.

Only users with funds in their Civic app will receive a notice email from Civic. 

If you believe you have funds but did not receive a notification email from Civic, contact support@civic.com directly for further assistance. 

 

What happens after June 1st?

After June 1, 2023, any accounts with zero balance will be deactivated. Once an account has been deactivated, you will no longer be able to sign transactions using the app. Coincover insurance will also be terminated and any amount deposited after account deactivation will no longer be accessible.

If you have not transferred your funds and no longer have the app installed, contact support@civic.com for help with completing the steps required for fund recovery.

 

What happens to my data?

Civic will delete data for all deactivated accounts after June 1, 2023. We will only retain information required for legal purposes, per our Privacy Policy.
