# 📚 Nexus guide: manage your authorizations

<h2><strong>What is an authorization?</strong></h2><p>An authorization is your permission for Civic Nexus to access a specific app on your behalf. This allows your AI assistant to work inside that app for you.</p><p>‍</p><h2>‍<strong>How do authorizations work?</strong></h2><ol><li>You connect an app to Civic Nexus.</li><li>You approve what Nexus is allowed to do in that app.</li><li>Nexus securely stores that permission.</li><li>Nexus can now use the app within those limits.</li><li>You can remove access whenever you want.</li></ol><p>‍</p><h2><strong>How to authorize an app</strong></h2><ol><li>In Civic Nexus, choose the app you want to connect. Depending on the app, this may include:</p><ul><li>Reading data</li><li>Creating new content</li><li>Updating existing content</li></ul><p>Civic Nexus cannot go beyond the permissions you allow. You can review, manage, or revoke authorizations at any time. Changes take effect immediately.</p>
