OpenAI shuts off o1, o3-mini, gpt-4-0613 and other older models in its API today, Oct 23, and the first thing to break is code nobody owns. I'd check the quiet jobs before the loud apps.

OpenAI's [deprecations page](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/deprecations) set this date under a notice dated Apr 22, 2026. The list also covers `gpt-3.5-turbo-0125`, `gpt-4-turbo`, `gpt-4.1-nano`, `o4-mini` and `gpt-image-1`. Some fine-tuned versions go too, like `ft-gpt-4`. Each one has a named substitute, mostly from the GPT-5.6 family.

The apps people use every day get fixed fast, because someone notices. The risk sits in the script that tags leads overnight. Or the agent step someone pinned to `o4-mini` and forgot. Nobody's watching those, so they fail quietly.

Here's what I'd do before lunch. Search your repos, environment variables and no-code tools for those model names. Swap each one for its listed substitute. Run one real input through it, since a newer model can answer in a different shape. Then keep model names in one config file, with an owner beside each. A deprecation notice only helps if it reaches the code.
