# Meta's open model runs an agent on two Mac Studios. The bounds don't ship with the weights.

Meta released the weights for Muse Spark Open on Oct 15, and once an agent runs on two Mac Studios on your desk, its limits are yours to write. In [Meta's Oct 15, 2026 post](https://research.meta.ai/blog/muse-spark-open), Meta Superintelligence Labs lists 816B total parameters, 42B active, and a 1M-token context window. It's built for coding and agent work. Meta calls it "the first model in its class to run on your desktop using two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios" with Apple's MLX framework.

Meta's own tests ran fully on the device. The model shipped real iOS changes to Ice Cubes, an open-source Mastodon client. It also drove Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve end to end.

That's the part worth reading twice. A hosted model sits behind someone else's limits on what it can reach. A model on your desk can reach whatever the machine can. So I'd write the rules before the first long run. One job per agent. A short list of folders and accounts it may write to. A log of every action, kept where a person reads it. Many developers get the weights free. The rules are the work.
