2010-honda-civic-type-rHonda is considering bringing its European market Civic Type R to the United States for the 2010 model year, according to a published report. The Type R is equipped with a 2.0-liter iVTEC engine delivering 220 horsepower. It also features sportier suspension and an appearance kit.

An assistant chief engineer from Honda told Winding Road magazine during a recent press event that the automaker is planning to send the Japanese-market Type R with a horsepower boost and a limited-slip differential to America.

The Type R sedan is more likely to come to the U.S. than the angular Type-R hatchback, since the latter model was notdesigned with the North American market in mind.

First of all Kent, a 2.0 liter engine is a 4 cylinder and not a 6 cylinder. Second of all they have been talking about bringing a CTR to the states for years with no results. We are lucky to have gotten a Mugen Si at least, I'm not holding my breath...

Everyone, hold your horses. There isn't going to be Civic Type-R in the United States. Honda just won't do it. They will CONSIDER bringing the Type-R to the states but that DOES NOT mean they will reach the stateside. Honda can and will consider whatever the hell they want but CONSIDERING and ACTING ON IT are two different sides of a coin.

its a nice car with ok specs but its over priced...for 32 g's you can get a lot more car.the bmw 128i with a v6 3.0 engine is a little under 30 g's and the 135i with an inline 6 3.0 engine turbocharged is 35 g's a little more money for a lot more car!

People,

Why in the world would you believe any rumors about honda bringing over the type R?. First it does not resemble our current civic line, the front, the sides( side skirts) and the rear are all different. Stocking parts for this car would be cost prohibitive solely because they do not have the same part numbers as the USDM civics. Honda would not do that, it may come as an acura because it has the european/japanese appearance to it. Prices, our economy: there is no market for these right now, only a few would buy it due to costs $32,000 sounds about right. Look at the civic mugen , never did well at all at $30,000, some dealers still can't get rid of them after 3 years of release. You can still find a brand new mugen right now , even on ebay.
So, honda being as smart as they are will never bring this car over here. The HFP is a complete joke seen that the SEMA show, you will never see that car either, too expensive and it even looks much closer to our usdm civics here. That car was just a silly add ons. Notice the front seats are just from a pulled civic type R civic from japan, it does not have height adjustment on the driver seat because it is a passenger seat on the right side of a japanese model civic.

No. the civic type r will not be released as a "honda civic type r " in the us next year . we will see a much " look a like " car come out next year but it will be offerd as the Acura CSX TYPE S . google it if u want and ull see . it has a similar front end and tail lights . the only this it doesnt have of the ctr is the grill . lips . sideskirts . spoiler . suspension etc, etc. BUT . some of my buddies in canada simply improvise . while there purchasing there wonderful ctr inspired vehicle . they go bananas and order all the ctr cosmetic parts as there salesman is writing there order. so as there writing it they say " ok i want the complete ctr front end including lip grille , bumper . sideskirts , rear bumper with the diffuser , spoiler , rims and last but not least the wonderful " TYPE R" badges that go along the sideskirt trim and on the trunk" it has already been done and let me tell u that it looks amazing in person . so the ctr will not be realesed in the us . BUT there are other options . honda simply wont give us this car simply because they want it for there own simple knowing that there the only ones that have the privlege of having it . and yes i am a type r guru . bye lol smilies/wink.gif

Blah,..
A Type-R "sedan" is like a minivan with a turbo, only a moron will do that.
Now,..if they bring a 2010 Type-R coupe (non-hatch),..I'll buy one.

New R is a joke, US or not. You'd be better off buying an Si. The new R went under massive changes including body, weight, and suspension. It has a new engine (i-Vtec) but it pushes out only 1 more horsepower than the old R. The new body changes add extra weight which make it no faster than the new Si's. The old R has independent rear suspension, aka.. super fun to drive. The new R has rear torque bars, aka.. super stiff to drive. In short, the new R's are slower, heavier, more expensive, and in my opinion dumb looking. just buy an Si.

^^^^^^
dude wat are u crazy ??? the new ctr out handles the honda nsx !!! . yea the 2009 model of the ctr was a disaster . honda got to cocky with it . but the 2010 model is to be said the best ctr ever released . the engine has 240 hp to the wheels!. and because of it being a sedan it handes even better ! . and yes they are faster than the new si's if it can take nsx's and our beloved integra type r ( rsx) wich is has the crown in the honda industry . this ctr is just amazing in all aspects and it has the respect it deserves . as well a few car manufactures are terriffied of this car . i wouldnt blame them . its a real car .

The CSX type-S is in Canada right now, but only puts out 197hp...Same as the SI, so changing the body kits will make you look like a type-R but about 23hp shy of a real one. By the way in Canada, the CSX type-S goes for 33,500 (candian dollars), imagine what a Type-R will cost. And if you have a problem with a 4 door type-R, just don't buy one rather than insulting the type-R. thanks

Iran accused the United States on Wednesday of "intolerable" meddling in its internal affairs, alleging for the first time that Washington has fueled a bitter postelection dispute. Opposition supporters marched in huge numbers through Tehran's streets for a third straight day to protest the outcome of the balloting.

its not going to get here in the US but if it did it would definitely sell. People are spending a few grand just to do the conversions not counting wheels, brembos, shorter final drive, engine start button, seats, etc. the suspension is kind of stiff for most of the US streets. higher octane gas would be ideal for the bump in compression, too. The si is a great car. I think you could have fun modding an si to resemble the type R with simple improvements. keep in mind the euro type R engine is basically the same as US si.
you know what they should do is modify the existing US market Si, paint it championship white, do the wheels, brakes, etc and leave the engine alone. nuff said.

Uhmmm where have you guys been, the Type R production has been closed down from 2009 there will not be any more production globally due to them trying to facilitate their company goals......sorry to bring bad news. DONT BELIEVE ME? Google this "honda civic type R production discontinued". Apparently due to emission standards they seem to be pursuing hybrid means of performance for a future type R

I love the back of it, especially the nameplate...
I wasn't too impressed by the first generation, but this seems to be a lot closer to what I'd expect... Anyway, thanks for sharing and I definitely visit here more often.
