2010 / 2011 Civic Si Availability PDF Print E-mail

We've seen hundred of threads regarding availability of 2010 Civic Si's - be it a coupe or a sedan.  It's a shame that I passed up the opportunity to get into a new Si a few months ago, they had the exact config that I wanted - a black Si coupe.

After deciding to get out of my current car and into a new Si, both Honda dealers here in Rochester, NY could not find me ANY Si's - coupes and sedans are nowhere to be found. Rumor has it that Honda is only allocating a few Si's for the entire state of New York for 2011.  Whether or not that's true is beyond me.

After walking around the lot impatiently, knowing that I wouldn't be happy in just a regular Civic with a 140hp engine, I noticed they had a Polished Metallic Civic Si sedan on the lot - but it was a 2009!  Due to the residual value of the car, they showed me some numbers and I quickly realized it would be a waste to lease the car, so I decided on a buy.  I really wanted to get into an Si badly.

We would like to hear your comments about the availability of the Si's in 2011.  Why isn't Honda telling dealers how many they are allocating?  Si's sell so well anyways, are they doing this purposely to increase demand even more?  I've seen a quote on a forum once and I can't stress it more:

"Sometimes scarcity is artificially created."

Your thoughts?

My son purchased a 2010 Civic Si Coupe about six weeks ago. Three weeks after purchase, some idiot turned left in front of him, and his new Si was totalled. The other guy's insurance is paying enough for complete replacement (thanks to our lawyer), but now we cant find another new Si...anywhere. This is VERY frustrating. I wish I knew who to call or what to do to find his car again. Kid's been through hell, and now some idiot has taken his dream car away and there seems to be no way to replace it!

Wow - that's not a fun story to repeat I would imagine. I purchased the additional coverage from Honda - if your car gets totalled or stolen, and your insurance company only gives you up to a certain amount - the 3rd party will cover the remaining balance so you get paid in full what you paid for the car. Glad to hear you're getting a replacement - from what I hear the 2011's are going to be new and improved, but no one really knows for sure. Good luck finding another Si!

Alright...well let me say that I'm sorry about your sons loss in his car- you will surely find a 2010 SI if you just go to the dealership and say "I would like to ORDER a car". Trust me, if you HAVE THE CASH they will order it and make sure you get it.
As for the shortages...well in early to mid 2009, Honda laid off a major fraction of their employees in the Canada plant [which creates all the USDM Civic and SI's] and recently hired just about the same fraction [April 2nd or March 31st I believe it was, of 2010]. This shortage of employees, if you can follow me, was the reason why there is a "shortage" of 2010 Honda Civic SI's. Honda hasn't released any information on the 2011 Honda Civic SI- so it is either the 2011 Honda SI is going to be JUST for the FIT [which is the 'current' news] or the Civic SI is going to not change for 2011.
If you haven't bought your son an SI yet, I certainly suggest going to the dealership and just ordering one. It's really a better idea then buying a 2009 or anything used. Put it this way; you will then know the car is MADE in 2010...PLUS this could the last year for the Civic SI.
Once more, there may not be a 2011 SI..if there is, it's going to be the EXACT SAME as the 2010 lol...
But the Honda Fit in 2011 announced that there will be a Honda Fit SI...so..lol.

Yah, were having the same problems in the South. We actually have the only Si in the area for a large distace, a black Si Sedan. Its in Pensacola Florida if you want that one and have it dealer transported. Hope you guys can find one, but I kinda hope they do in fact make the new design at the end of this year!

Josh - I tried ordering the car, they couldn't order one, nor could they find one in all of New York State, PA, and OH. To ship a car from a different coast, or from down in Florida, you're looking at at least $1200 - also plan on paying sticker or well over sticker if that's the case. This is why I ended up going for a 2009 that they somehow had on the lot with only 100 miles on it.............Either way good luck, let us know if you find a 2010

I saw a SI about a month ago at a dealership in Virginia; mad I didn't buy it then and there but I didn't realize there was a shortage. I talked to someone at another Virginia dealership, who said he did all the purchasing at that dealership, and he said they haven't been able to order any civics si's for the past 4 months. He said this was because the Si was going through a redesign but I read online that the civic redesign wasn't until the 2012 version, so not sure which is true.

Wow those are some sad stories, when i went to get my 2007 Si Coupe here in Braman Honda Florida, they had at least 4 Si's, 2 coupes and like 3 sedans. I got lucky they had a Fiji Blue pearl just sitting there waiting for me. Last week my Si turned 3 years old and i went to the dealer to get the transmission oil changed, flush the clutch liquid, flush the break liquid, and as i was walking around i saw 2 Si's one coupe and a white sedan. they look very nice, i see so many Si's in Miami, maybe thats why we have so many in florida.

Not to to bring back up this topic, but I just decided to get a 2010 civic SI. I have a 99 civic dx and a 01 s2000, but neither is long distance travel friendly. I decided to look for a 2010 si, however after getting a price quote online and traveling to 3 dealers in nashville, tn, I was finally told there are no SI's in nashville. I asked they guy if I could have one transported from another dealership and he told me, he doesn't know of a single si for sale new or used. I sadly went down and test drove a rx 8 who were more than happy to sell me the car. Right now I am about to go to vacation to san antonio, houston, and dallas. Maybe in one of those cities I can find some SI's, if I do, I will let yall know!

Hopefully they'll have more 2011 si's to choose from right? They should start poppin up around August? I told my local dealership I wanted to order a black coupe, but they never hit me back. I want one, the last year of this body style with all the kinks worked out.

Your quote is right on too,(scarcity. . .) it's the same thing with the Type r. I can see Honda holding back if there's no market for them, fine, but if I want to buy one there should be some way of getting ahold of one. Admittedly I don't have the money for one yet, and haven't really tried to look. Hopefully in a few more monthssmilies/wink.gif

If the car is so hot, why would a dealer give one up to a competitor ? or even a dealership which is far away ?

I was lucky enough to find a black civic si coupe in Littleton, CO. I've been looking for awhile and they were indeed hard to find. As soon as I heard it was there, I drove right down to the dealership and picked it up, with 0.9% financing to boot!

After my 2009 Civic EX was totaled in early June, I decided to start the hunt for a 2010 SI. The nearest dealership to me (Middletown [NY] Honda) had a Red Sedan w/ Navi come into the dealership the first week of July. However, they sold it about four hours before I saw it online. Luckily my buddy who works at a Honda dealership was able to get me a Blue Sedan w/o Navi on a trade since they were getting a black one in at the end of July.

So, it seems like 2010 SIs might be around if you ask your dealership and act quickly.

From Forked River NJ = i have a 2009 Black Civic SI sedan I would like to sell for around 20,500. That is a steal saying that buying new you have to put down a decent amount of money to lower you payments. and pretty much saving on all fees. There are a few scratches on the front bumper. thats it. rest of car is mint if not as good as new. I need to vacuum it and wax. If anyone is interested. Please email me for more details.
